Abhigyan Katiyar wins Digital Detox Chess Open, Junaid Ahmad Runner-up

Lucknow’s rising talent, eleven-year-old Abhigyan Katiyar of Modern School, Aliganj won the CCBW Digital Detox Open Chess Tournament September edition ahead of top senior stars of the city. Abhigyan scored 6 points including a win over KK Khare and Arif Ali.

Abhigyan drew the last round with former State Chess Champion Junaid Ahmad, Sports Officer, Lucknow Nagar Nigam. Ahmad was runner-up (5.5 points) with wins over Ravishanker, Arjun Singh and Shani Kumar Soni.

Four people tied for the third place including Ravishanker, Sayeed Ahmad, Arif Ali and Deep Kumar Singh. Singh also had a fantastic tournament as Best Unrated player. KK Khare and Irfan Syed Mohd were Best Senior Citizens’ (4 points each). 

 

Best Under 16 Rated Kid Daksh Malik with his dad Ajay Kumar

Lucknow’s teen talent Daksh Malik was the Best Under 16 Rated Kid. Some other unrated stars who performed better than their seeding among the rated professionals included Saad Baksh Siddiqui, Nikhar Saxena, Ajendra Singh and Pratham Neogi. Shivam Maurya won the Junior category with 6.5 points with Om Mishra and Ayush Yadav in second place with 6 points each. Chief Guest Ajay Kumar gave away the prizes. 

The club also celebrated World Cleanup Day by distributing recyclable dustbin bags, encouraging responsible waste management and environmental awareness.
